Cranberry Words in Formal Grammar

چکیده
We will provide a formal account of cranberry words in German within the framework of HPSG. Cranberry words only occur in a very restricted set of linguistic environments but behave as any other word would in these environments. We will show that the distribution of these words can neither be reduced to constructions nor to selection. Therefore, a formal theory of distribution and collocations will be necessary. We will begin work on developing such a theory.

This paper presents a Frame Semantics analysis of calendric terms in English, Hebrew, and German, demonstrating the inextricable relationship between morphology and semantics. Here, we consider how Frame Semantics can be extended to morphological analysis. متن کاملDeleting Powers in Words
We consider the language consisting of all words such that it is possible to obtain the empty word by iteratively deleting powers. It turns out that in the case of deleting squares in binary words this language is regular, and in the case of deleting squares in words over a larger alphabet the language is not regular. However, for deleting squares over any alphabet we find that this language ca...
متن کاملConjunctive Grammars in Greibach Normal Form and the Lambek Calculus with Additive Connectives
We prove that any language without the empty word, generated by a conjunctive grammar in Greibach normal form, is generated by a grammar based on the Lambek calculus enriched with additive (“intersection” and “union”) connectives. 1 Conjunctive Grammars Let Σ be an arbitrary finite alphabet, Σ∗ is the set of all words, and Σ is the set of all non-empty words over Σ. We consider a generalisation...
